In 2016 myself and my Vietnamese collaborator, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Dung, received a grant from the International Palm Society. Part of the grant was to record one of our palm collecting trips along the Ho Chi Minh Highway in Vietnam. This relatively recent highway connects Hanoi in the north to Ho Chi Minh City in the south, and goes through the western part of Vietnam, mostly through mountainous areas. The highway passes through some spectacular scenery, and also through many areas of beautiful forest, full of palms.
We recorded our trip, using a GoPro, and have edited the footage into an approximately 1 hour video. We hope this video will show something of the fascinating scenery and palms, as well as the wonderful people of Vietnam.
